Ms. Ivy recovered well from her shoulder surgery. In fact, she was able to return to the same beach and play without hesitation. She currently is very active, sporting her Sammy Smile with her brother Kodah (also seen in his photo).

Dying Dogs in Advertising - Mercy (Friday the 13th Edition!)

Dying Dog with Sapien examining on a trail.

Pearl Izumi/Cycling posted on their Facebook Wall.
September 6 near Boulder, CO

"We made a mistake.
You love dogs. We love dogs. And, just like many of you, we love to run with our dogs. It’s fun, healthy and brings tremendous joy to the lives of pets and their owners.
However, the Run Faster advertising that ran in Canadian Running magazine overstepped the bounds of good taste. A lot. And, we offended many of you.
While it was never our intention to make light of this serious subject, this ad crossed the line and used poor judgment. For this, we apologize.
Many of you have suggested that we use this as an opportunity to point out the issue and raise awareness of heat exhaustion while running with your pet. We now hear you. As dog owners and lovers we can only hope that something good might come from our mistake, raise awareness of this potentially serious problem and invite you to share the following information with others:
http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/pets_safe_heat_wave.html

We have also made a $10,000 donation to the Boulder Valley Humane Society as a sign of our commitment to the well being of the pets we all love.
Again, we sincerely apologize from the bottom of our hearts. We hope to see you out running soon."

Remember when I injured my dew claw? My sapien was brave enough to cut off the hanging nail and I healed up very well. Luckily I never had a limp.

  3. Nice posts. You are right how imperative it is to pay attention when out with other dogs. Sometimes your dog needs you to step in and protect them or call a time out, or sometimes you need to step in to protect another dog from your boisterous pup. Mom's had to do this multiple times and be the mediator. If another dog is fearful when we go up to say hi, she steps between to protect the other dog so they don't feel like they have to defend themselves. Or if we are a bit intimidated by another dog, she'll step up for us =) Glad your dewclaw is doing good too and Miss Ivy is ok!

  5. Awesome follow-up and thank you so much for joining the blog hop!

Poor Ruckus, I'm glad he recovered from his dew claw injury. My sister has a dog that tore his and I know how horrible that can be. It's something I worry about with Sampson and wish I'd had it removed when he was neutered. Delilah's had been removed when we got her.

Well I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope you have a great weekend!

  8. Oh my gosh! That happened to Rin too! She wouldn't allow me to touch it but I had to cut it because it kept on causing more pain.
