My sapiens recently got a brand-spanking new KitchenAid Professional 600 mixer.
Is this going to be used for me? |
First grind up 12 rectangles of graham crackers.
Then, in a small bowl, add about 2.5 tablespoons of sugar.
Melt about 1/2 cup of butter.
Stir it all together.
Press it firmly in an 8" x 13" pan. Grease the sides.
Grab a box of your favorite brownie mix (or make them from scratch!) My sapien used 2 packs of the Ghirardelli to fit the 8" x 13" pan.
Per the brownie mix instructions, mix the water, egg, and vegetable oil until blended.
Add in the brownie mix packs
Add MORE chocolate! (1.5 cups)
Pour into the pan. At this point, your oven should be preheated and you can put the pan in the oven. Cook per the instructions on the box (50-55 minutes).
When the baking is almost done, hand crush some graham crackers (2 rectangles).
Get your marshmallows of choice (My sapiens went for the mini-sprinkly kinds).
Pull the rack out and start pouring over a layer of marshmallows* and graham crackers*.
Set the oven to broil**, and stay close to the oven as the graham crackers can burn quite quickly.
Wait until fully-cooled...and then SLICE! (Use of a plastic knife/spatula has the best results)
Lick your lips and enjoy a job well done (don't worry, I did not partake in this poisonous food!)
They ended up very chocolatey with just a tiny hint of the graham crackers. In this big of a pan, maybe even more graham crackers should be added for the bottom crust. The tiny marshmallows did not melt well, but they added a fun texture element to the brownie. They also tasted like the Lucky Charms marshmallows! The memories!
Recipe adapted from: therecipecritic
*My sapien thinks you should let the marshmallows cook first to melt them, and then open up the oven again to layer on the graham crackers.
**My sapien was not sure if broiling was supposed to be set to high or low. The graham crackers got a little burnt, but that made it taste more like s'mores you have out in woods.
