FitDog Friday: Looking for Less Pull? Try ThunderLeash!

Hello all and welcome to another FitDog Friday! How many of you canines would be excited to walk outside on this gorgeous day? Sick of the tugging? Try ThunderLeash! It may help you and your sapiens out!
Here's my Ruckus Report:

From the makers of ThunderShirts for Pets, comes ThunderLeash, "The Simplest 'No Pull' Solution".

PROS:

Neatly-packaged
  • 'Less-Pull Leash':
    • If you know of any sapiens or pups who are having difficulty with their walking pace, this may be exactly what you are looking for. I was lucky enough to win a contest on Peggy's Pet Place and also offered a leash for review! Trust me when I say, I know the exact family member to offer my extra leash to!
  • Sturdy & Multi-functional:
    • The leash is firm and sturdy--it's good to use as a harness or as a normal leash.
  • Satisfaction Guaranteed
    • This is the KEY right here. How many companies can say that they stand by their product enough to offer a money-back guarantee? This is a win-win situation in my book.
CONS:

  • Sizes:
    • Limited sizes with just the Small and Large. I can imagine my cousin, a French Bulldog, struggling to find a perfect fit with just these two sizes.
  • Not for long-haired dogs:
    • For American Eskimos like myself who have a double-coat with long hair, the most common spots where we have mats are behind our ears and in between the arms. With this leash around the upper torso, frequent use requires more grooming and de-matting sessions.
DESIGN:

    Unraveled

    • Branding on the leash:
      • There is a decorative print of the logo on the leash as depicted above.

    Let's go, already!

Overall, the leash helps with the tugging from both ends. However, so far it is not a complete no-pull solution. It may require more training on the sapiens end to maximize the full benefits of the ThunderLeash. Unfortunately, the harness approach causes too much entanglement with my fur, for me to be able to use it efficiently. Otherwise it works great as a regular leash!

      1. They come by and show them off at the clinics? Are you a vet Ms JoAnn?

    2. I'm totally digging the name they've given the leash. Like you say it's a bit hard to workout how it works with a coat like Ruckus has.congrats on the win though. Happy FitDog Friday.....

    3. Thanks for the review Ruckus - I've been thinking about one of these because Jack likes to pull when he sees that coyote poop, so maybe I'll try this. He's got short hair, so I would expect it to be okay.

      1. Hi SlimDoggy, I think it would work on Jack too. Short-hair means less mats!

    4. Hi Y'all!

Way to go Ruskus! Great review. My Human had a FlatCoat retriever before she got Chessies...matting, especially when hunting...burrs were the worst...was a huge problem. I can only imagine that the constant rubbing would really make a nasty tangle. Wonder if it causes bald spots on other types of coats...wouldn't they still get the rubbing? Like the galls horses get from their girth.

      Y'all come by now,

      1. Hi Hawkeye,
I'm not sure how much rubbing takes place. I have good cushion with all my fluff.

    5. I have a friend with a dog who pulls (and has short hair) who might be interested in this. I'll have to pass your review on to her.

    6. I have seen these leashes around for a while so I am glad to see some reviews rolling out. The matting would not be an issue for us but I doubt the small would fit Chester and Gretel and I don't like the branding. I like my leashes to be pretty and fun.

      1. Hi Jessica, I'm also not a fan of the branding however this one is not that obvious since it hides on the underside.

    7. Sounds interesting. Wish it had been around in Thunder's pulling days. Of course he broke many a lead so it better be really sturdy!

      1. Yes, this one is pretty sturdy so no doubt about that. Imagine that..Thunder in a thunderleash! How cool is that?

    8. Years ago in obedience class my trainer showed me the trick of wrapping a normal leash around the dog to prevent pulling...that looks to be how the Thunderleash fits...it's important with boy dogs to watch out for their "parts" ;)

      1. Yes! So important...my parts should not be affected in anyway during training sessions!
