This past weekend, my sapiens and I had the chance to visit Yosemite National Park. Let me tell you, it was quite an arduous journey.

We originally wanted to get to Mono Lake and had to take a detour across Highway 88 South through the treacherous mountains. Snow was falling and the ice was starting to form on the road. Eventually, we reached Mono Lake, yet the clouds were threatening even more snow and the visitor's center was closed. Distraught, we had to head back to Yosemite to find our lodging but 120 West (Tioga Pass Road) was closed! Honestly, I have never been so scared in my life backtracking through Highway 88 in the middle of the night with temperatures dipping to 13 degrees Fahrenheit.

It took us about 15 hours to get to our lodging, but in the end, it was worth it for the spectacular views of the park like the shot we took above.

Happy Sepia Saturday, everybody!

  4. The photograph is stunning! But it does sound rather scary, it wouldn't be good to get stuck in those temperatures.

  9. Your photo is amazing, but I must say you really go all out for a blog post!!! Hiking in 13 degrees is splendid. We had 10 degrees yesterday and were thrilled with the warmth. The body adjusts to the below zero temps and it felt like a heat wave yesterday in the woods. Glad you are safe!

  10. Wowzer that photo is a keeper for sure!! Yosemite is one of the very few Western National Parks we haven't visited yet. If we ever go it won't be in winter, especially after reading your arduous journey. MK Clinton is right - more pics from Yosemite (they look very cool in sepia too)

  14. That is probably one of our favourite pictures from the past few weeks in all of blogville. Thanks for sharing it. Lady was in yosemite park 87 million years ago when she was a teenager. She remembers liking it, but her sister thought it was scary.
