Choosing the Best Pet Food #GetHealthyHappy

Not the right food for me :(
Ruckus is taking part in the "Healthier Pets, Happier Lives" Campaign with Hill's Science Diet to help educate owners how to #GetHealthyHappy with their pets. In our last post, we shared the importance of preventative health care.

Today's main focus is to emphasize the importance of mealtime and the choice of food that is presented on the table (or dish)! Since we do the shopping for our pets, those furballs REALLY rely on us to be responsible for the proper formulated food and nutrition.

Do you often find yourself overwhelmed with the variety of pet food as you walk up and down the pet store aisle?  This is why I challenge you to reflect on how you determine which food you decide to feed your fur-kids. If you are still questioning yourself, the best place to start is by learning your pet's health needs through your veterinarian. Some pets have specific conditions that may require special formulated food. Another consideration is the age of your pet. As your pet experiences time and enters the different life stages, their nutritional requirements will also change. In fact, Ruckus will turn 3 years old this weekend! Happy Birthday Ruckus!!

He's turning three but sure ages fast, eh?
With every year, we reevaluate the type of food, the number of feedings, and the serving portion size. The importance of this is because we want to avoid nutrient excessiveness or deficiencies.

IMPORTANT: If you discover a new type of food for your pet, you must transition over time or your pet may experience some gastrointestinal discomfort.(NOT fun for you or your pet).  Here is more information on how to make this a smoother transition.
