It's time to revisit!

Snapfish and Ruckus Collaboration- fun project ideas! @snapfish @ruckustheeskie

Today we are collaborating with Snapfish on these awesome personalized items of my beloved Ruckus the Eskie.



Snapfish makes it easy for us to make anything Ruckus and we had fun creating it on their website. Just remember, a good tip is to use bright colorful high quality photos to get the best outcome.


I love being his human and it shows to be great length that I can take him with me everywhere! Whether it's when I go shopping at the mall with the little furball or if I make my morning cup of coffee.

And get this, his face has become our cutting board although I don't feel right putting a knife to his face. Maybe I'll just use as a display instead at the house!

Snapfish has been used by us previously to create photo albums but now it's been helpful in creating wonderful keepsakes. These pet-themed items make gifts extra special. We are already planning to gift some to Ruckus's grandpa! He's been watching Ruckus like his own so it'd be nice to give him something thoughtful as a thank you.

Home Chef Unboxing Video

Lucky us we received a Home Chef package for less than $50. I still have around $10 credit in my box and this was sent to us as a gift from my work. Here's the unboxing of my package and some photos of our home cooked meal!

What happens at the Groomers?

Most of the time we provide Ruckus with home grooming and bathing but some days....we are just too darn lazy. Especially days after a good dog run and play at Mudpuppy's tub & scrub . Luckily, the muddy fellow gets a good wash at an onsite grooming facility. Now let's be clear that this was a quick in and out so they didn't get all the nitty gritty details that we would like in this video

However this was enough to bring him back indoors to our white carpet!

How to Teach A Dog to Hold Things

Reward system here is the Key. Here are some tips on how to teach your dog to hold things. This is a fun trick that you can use either on the nose or in the mouth.



1. ITEM OF CHOICE:

You can decide on which object to have your dog hold but I would say if it's something that is consumable, most likely it wouldnot be the best item to start with. Start with something of a neutral property that is of decent weight given your dog size. You do not want a heavy item to start with.

2. WORD OF CHOICE: 

"Hold" is the most common command but you can use any word. Your dog will associate this to either holding the object in their mouth or on their nose. Be consistent with your training

3. ITEM PLACEMENT:

A good tip is to open the lower jaw of your dog's mouth gently initially and putting in behind their teeth. As you tell with Ruckus he's pretty good with this trick and I can easily just stuff anything in his mouth. He is typically patient in waiting for the command to enjoy his carrots!

4. CONSISTENCY with the training and iwth the wording. Don't keep changing the word of choice. Practice in the same location. Dogs are a creature of habits like us humans so having a routine will be the key. This trick may take up to months for some dogs but with Ruckus we were lucky to have him learn in a few weeks. 

5. CUES:
Pay attention to your dog's behavior and read their cues. If you can tell that your dog is agitated or annoyed then stop the training and restart it at a later time

6. REWARD:
This is the key for the success of learning any tricks. Your dog will thrive on praises and rewards. Provide positive reinforcement with verbal encouragements and praises topped with a delicious doggy treat. Once your dog are able to hold neutral objects, you can advance to dog food. Ruckus can hold most dog food in his mouth without salivating too much and the joy is that he can enjoy it quickly afterwards. This is called instant gratification. Delayed gratification won't be as effective as most dogs have a very short attention and memory span.
