Could You be the Next Mayor of Your City?

I recently came across an article commemorating the life of Bosco, the black Labrador mix. Bosco held the position of mayor for ten years in the village of Sunol, California (a little northeast of Fremont) until his passing in 1994. It got me thinking: maybe I should run for Mayor in my city. I have strong affiliations with the Re-pup-lican party! Would you vote for me?

Upon further research, I found that they were even more mayors like Bosco in the USA (well, more like one other one). That's pretty amazing! Sure, we don't actually get the drive policy, but that's the boring part of bering a mayor right? It would be great just to run up and down the streets, greet people, and give as many Eskimo Kisses before my nose gets raw!

My potential constituents (there are two in this photo!)
Upon EVEN further research, I found that maybe being a mayor is not all treats and licks as it is made out to be. Just yesterday, Mayor Stubbs, a tabby cat and the mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska (north of Anchorage), was mauled by a fellow canine. Suffering a punctured lung, fractured sternum, and large laceration on his side, he was rushed to the veterinary hospital. He is still in critical condition, but is showing signs of recovery. Did I mention that Mayor Stubbs has been the incumbent for 16 years? It must be Re-pup-lican against Demo-cat tension!

It is quite a risky proposition, and even I am afraid to risk my life in holding such a high position. I think my sapiens would be afraid for me, as well! But, as a canine I must do my duty!

Who knows, maybe being First or Second Dog of the United States was only the beginning. It is starting to be clear: Ruckus the Eskie for President of the United States of America!

RUCKUS for 2016!

Woof,

  1. I'd vote for you - if I had a vote! I think you'd make a great President.

  2. Based on what I see human politicians do, I'd vote for a dog any day.

    1. Hi Pat, seriously, all I would do is go around giving everyone Eskimo kisses

  4. I'd vote for ya. You'll need a campaign manager. A budget. Signs. A good stump speech. And be careful not to pee on the stumps. People freak out about that kind of thing. And hey! Eskimo kisses for babies!
