Ways to Bond with Your Pet - Hill's Giveaway #GetHealthyHappy

Welcome to the third edition of the "Healthier Pets. Happier Lives" campaign with Hill's Science Diet. The campaign's objective is to educate pet parents on preventative care to encourage a healthier and happier pet. You can review the first and second articles on Vet Check Ups and Meal Time.

While regular vet visits and proper nutrition are important to the physical health of your pet, we must not forget the little EXTRA details to promote your pet's mental health. The focus today is to encourage you to make that extended effort and reinforce the bond between you and your pet.

Here are a couple of ways you can bond with your pet:

PLAYTIME:

Playtime is the perfect opportunity to encourage physical and/or mental stimulation. Remember, a bored pet is not a happy pet! Toys come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and textures. Toys with squeakers will typically provide sensory stimulation. A simple tennis ball will work well for both cats and dogs for chasing and fetching.

If your pet is anything like Ruckus, you have a huge chest of toys sitting at home. However, your pet will just play with ONE item! Don't let that become the norm.

TIP: Instead of keeping all your toys out in the open, alternate them to prevent your pets from being bored. Trust me, the next time they see it, it's as if they just got a brand new toy!

GROOMING:

Obviously, it goes without saying that owning an American Eskimo dog requires a fair amount of grooming. Believe it or not, Ruckus has never set paws in a pet salon! We actually enjoy bonding over our grooming sessions. Routine brushing will reduce shedding and maintain a shiny, healthy coat. Typically, long-haired pets will require daily brushes or at least twice weekly brushes. Shorter-haired pets, on the other hand, will benefit from once weekly sessions.

Take a look at one of our silly grooming session:

Ruckus loves his grooming time because he sees it as a free massage.

If you have any questions or need advice, the best opportunity to address this is with your pet's veterinarian at your pet's next annual visit. What better way to do this by entering for your chance to win $100 towards your next vet checkup from Hill’s Science Diet! Go here for more details.

GIVEAWAY:

As an extra bonus, Ruckus is partnering up with Hill's to giveaway two bundles of your choice (dog or cat!)
