#MeToo & #HowIWillChange

It saddens us how many victims were affected by the#MeToo Movement. We can only imagine how many more remained silent. Please take a moment to think about #howiwillchange.

BarkBox Review October 2017

Today we’re showing you the Barkbox that arrived at our doorstep this month.

What is a BarkBox? Barkbox is a monthly subscription for your pup, filled with a variety of toys, treats, and chews. These boxes can be specifically customized for your pup--from heavy chewers to those with special allergies.

Ruckus the Eskie is an affiliate of the BarkBox network. Use promo code “RUCKUS” to save 10% on either BarkBox or BarkShop items, or “ESKIE” for a free BarkBox as part of your subscription.

Item 1: Zoe the Zombie Squirrel

Ruckus loves to chase squirrels, so this is a great match. We’ve gotta make sure he doesn’t catch zombie rabies, though.

Item 2: Pig Ear

Delicious and crunchy. These are usually the first items that Ruckus pulls off the shelf from the pet store.

Item 3: Simply Ghoulicious

Use code "Ruckus" to save 10%

This pumpkin flavored treat is perfect for the Halloween season. A bonus perk--helping regulate his bowels!

Item 4: Bark Spooky Snacks

Use code "Ruckus" to save 10%

These snacks come in interesting shapes in the form of nuts and bolts. Maybe we can make a little Frankenstein for Ruckus to munch on.

Item 5: Rest in Pieces Tombstone

Use code "Ruckus" to save 10%

It looks like the squirrel lost the battle this time. Rest in pieces, little one.

Overall, what a fun and morbid Halloween theme box. Barkbox never ceases to amaze both humans and dogs. We still can’t figure out who is looking forward to these monthly deliveries!

If you prefer not to have a monthly box, you can also purchase these items individually on the BarkShop online store. Just use the promo code “RUCKUS” to save 10% on your purchase.

Please leave a comment below on what you like from this month’s Barkbox.

ASMR Dog Food and Dog Eating Video

You may have been searching the world wide web and wonder --What is ASMR?

Autonomous sensory meridian response is an experience that is meant for a tingling or static sensation on the skin that starts at the scalp and moves down the neck and spine.

It's the new thing that's in NOW.

We figure that we will join the parade and engage in creating an ASMR video on dog food and dog eating.

Products show in video:

1) Blue Buffalo Adult Dry Food Chicken
2) Taste of the Wild Canned Salmon

This post may contain affiliate links. We purchase most of the products for the posts ourselves however sometimes we have the opportunity to test and review brand products. Ruckus the Eskie will only share products we trust.

You meet all kinds of people at college, but Rad Chad is something special. Fluff-filled with a giggle stick core, he is always down for a good time, bro. At a certain point though, even Chad will forget why he's laughing.

Funny little noodles are exploding out of this toy, making it perfect to tear and toss. Hidden inside is our popular spiky ball core, which is like a bonus toy when your pup rips through the noodles' exterior. We legally can't say that this toy has more nutrition than real thing, but, well… it definitely has less sodium.

Listed above, I would say Ruckus's favorite item would be the Beer Pong. The little ping pong balls sure have little squeakers in them as the scrunching cup engages in hours of fun.

How to Grow your Instagram to 60k Followers

Hi friends! Many people inquire how we are able to gain so much traction on Instagram over at @ruckustheeskie. As of now, we have over 55k followers after starting the account a few years ago.

We started Ruckus the Eskie initially because we wanted to share our adorable cutie pie with the world. We realized that we were spamming family members and friends via email and on our personal social media accounts. The next step was to just create a separate account. We left this account public and noticed that the world wide web also expressed interest in this fluff ball! We have to admit, Ruckus is too cute to just keep to ourselves.

Here are a five quick tips on how to grow your Instagram account:

1) Find a niche

  • Discover what your passion is.
    • What do you love to share?
    • What do you love to talk about?

2) High Quality Photos

  • A good quality camera is helpful, but not necessary.
    • We previously used the Canon 60D, however noticed that it was bulky for everyday use.
  • Camera phones now produce good quality photos as well. Convenient! Our current photos are directly straight off my iPhone 6s.

3) Engagement

  • This is something that I see many accounts fail to do.  We read every comment and try our best to engage as much with our followers and fans as much as possible. Talking with other instagrammers and bloggers in your niche also helps with collaboration and networking in the field.
4) Post consistently

  • Activity and consistency are key on Instagram. Followers and fans will follow an active feed. We try to post daily but we know that for many, this may not be feasible. I mean, some of us have jobs right? We sure do!
5) Flexibility

  • We notice that some accounts have strict rules and guidelines on what they will or will not post. Keep in mind that this is completely up to you and the freedom belongs to you. Over at Ruckus the Eskie, we always remember that whatever we share, it is organic and true to us. Our main goal is to provide a glimpse into the lives of Ruckus and family.
We hope this helps provide some insight on how to grow and develop your Instagram. These are tips from our personal experiences.

How to Teach a Dog to Balance Treat on Nose #balancingact

1. Ensure that your dog is in a familiar and comfortable setting for training (ie avoid distractions)

2. Engage your dog to make sure that his/her full attention is on you

3. Make sure to choose a desirable treat with a flat surface

4. Have your dog in a sitting position, avoid slippery grounds for sliding

5. Initially, hold the dog treat close to your dog's nose or mouth, teaching your dog to ignore the treat by firmly saying "no" when he/she tries to reach for it. Be patient, it may take many sessions to even perfect this step.

6. Once your dog is able to avoid the food around his/her nose, place gently on snout

7. Practice balancing with your dog followed with the cues "Take it" or "OK" to allow your dog to grab at the treat. Once your dog can balance the treat on his/her nose, you may slowly lengthen the time before your dog takes the treat.

8. Remember to avoid yelling and causing a stressful environment--learn when to end the training session when you sense your dog is distressed

9. Give lots of praises. treats, and encouragement throughout the training process

10. Have fun and use the training session as a bonding experience with you and your pet!

This is how we train Ruckus the treat balancing act. He is an avid learner and very treat driven, so after a few sessions, he was able to ace it. Remember that each dog has their own learning curve!

TIP: It is extremely helpful to first teach your dog how to leave and take treats off their paws. Then the next step would be off the nose!

Here's the YouTube video of some of Ruckus's tricks.
